GoPro HD(1st gen) 2.5mm EXTERNAL Microphone Mod + Custom mic

I've been needing to do this for a long time, so I decided to create a "solution" for the GoPro HD's terrible internal microphone. Here's the result!

Here is the newly fabricated microphone plugged into my converted HDTV 2.5mm OUTPUT port.

Here is the new microphone side by side with a standard 3.5mm headphone plug.

To achieve the conversion, I first needed to go into the GoPro settings and turn LFF(live feed off) to LFO(live feed on) that way the camera will function normally, because it thinks there is a cable plugged in now! If you do not do this, the GoPro may start with "tEL" being displayed, meaning Television. I actually made the mistake of not doing this first, and removed diodes permanently disabling my video output, and my LCD backpack :( At that point it's as simple desoldering the internal mic, as wiring the red and black wires to the internal 2.5mm jack, wiring you new mic the same way!
